Youth Rise International (YoRI) is governed by a 7-member Board of Advisors with a combined experience of over 80 years from diverse field in law, finance, audit, education, development practice, development communication, psychology, gender and sociology. The Board is the highest policy decision-making. Ama Boafo-Arthur, BA, LLB, MPhil, MPhil, PhD (Ghana) – Board Chair, Research & Legal Advisor She holds Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Development Studies (2015) from the prestigious Institute of Statistical, Social and Economic Research (ISSER), at the University of Ghana. And recently, obtained a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the GIMPA Law School, Ghana (2019).
Prior to that, Ama Boafo-Arthur, PhD had a Master of Philosophy (M. Phil) Sociology (2009) from the University of Ghana and then M. Phil Development Studies (2007) from Cambridge University, Cambridge, UK. Interestingly, she started her academic journey in 2005 with a Bachelor of Art (B.A.), with Major in Sociology and Minor in Political Science from the University of Ghana. Currently, Ama Boafo-Arthur is a faculty member at the Department of Distance Education, University of Ghana as a Lecturer and non-academic responsibilities. Her research interests include Adolescence and Youth Studies, Sexual Abuse, Reproductive Health, and Childhood Studies.
She has been teaching for about 11 years and during this period she has conducted research on Sexual Abuse and the Livelihood strategies of Street Children. In fact, at her Department, in addition to lecturing, she coordinates the Student Support Unit and Diploma Programmes. “Vulnerable populations particularly children and young adults is very dear to her heart and I believe this passion will enhance my service to Youth Rise International (YoRI). The aim is to reach all and as much as possible limit the challenge of access to all who fall within the parameters of Youth Rise International especially during this period when COVID-19 is on the ascendancy making access even more difficult for the already challenged persons in society” she poured out her out passionately when we invited her to serve on this important board.
